My Spy
Fun family movie with the invisible chip-eating guy from Guardians of the Galaxy (Dave Bautista, Drax). Laughed a lot and was entertained by all the characters.
The Wrong Missy
The first of two Netflix Originals on this list (what planet is this?), David Spade returns for laughs when he becomes entangled in a tale of mistaken identity.
Scoob!
Before this movie came out, I tried my hardest to withhold any judgments: Cash grab? Probably. Terrible jokes? Most likely. The characters I know and love re-tailored to be dated instead of sorta timeless? Sources say yes. So I ignored all that while watching the trailer and perceived a Scooby Doo movie not to be missed. After a botched digital opening weekend, I decided not to watch this one right away. But, when I did finally watch it, it was great. A bunch of other reviewers noted the cash-grabby nature, terribly unfunny jokes, and already dated ideas as "present". Yes, it has all of those; but, it also has some genuine effort, actually funny jokes, and even something kind of timeless about it. No spoilers here, but I really enjoyed Scoob!
Spenser Confidential
I've talked about this movie on social media before and to pretty much anyone who will hear me out about it. Yeah, others have said the books are better. Missed them. Put this on as a background movie while trying to get some work done and it totally sucked me in. It was a lot of fun, and there's definitely a theme of spy-type movies on this list. Also, the second Netflix Original on this top 5. Remember when there was a new James Bond movie set for release in 2020? The good ol' days.
We Bare Bears
There's not much to be said about this movie for those who have seen it, and there's even less in terms of spoilers here. It had a lot of things to say about current-day happenings and told them in a way kids could understand. And, if a viewer wasn't looking for those things, there was definitely a wholesome story about three bears being there for one another.
