[MUSIC]
I've been excited to release one of those "extended play" music contraptions! As it turns out, The Notes That Exploded runs 32 minutes (a full long-player.) Watch the first music video from The Notes That Exploded at 7:00 MST tonight. New music next week! [WRITING] Up next, as usual, is the audiobook for Branching Chaos. With the release of more music happening soon, I thought I'd write some insights for a track from my most recent album, "Through Each Year".
"Panorama" is one of the last tracks I recorded before taking a break. I felt out of ideas with this song, but also felt like I had learned a lot during time spent recording. It's an instrumental. I started with the drum beat, wanting something a bit tribal-sounding, musically. I added some bass as I thought about things that had happened while living in the Salt Lake Valley. On top of those, some guitar was added while the valley's mountainous, city-filled evening skyline was considered. Every attempt was made to isolate each sound for clarity from a mastering perspective. The effects have all been balanced to work with each other and not muddy the mix. As for a possible lack of creativity with note differentiation, that is exactly where I ran out of ideas. It has put me to sleep sometimes, too. It has been several years since the art section has been updated. Other updates have been made to the home page. Notably, really, really poor quality versions of "A Warning at Dusk" and "Outage" have been removed. They are currently being updated for the (seemingly ever-)forthcoming short story collection. Today, three new pieces have been added, all pen + ink. It would be nice to collaborate on some comics eventually, but for now it's just these drawings. Several contrived story ideas were considered as well. Nothing else yet.
Home Art Next month, look forward to: -New Music -Maybe something else. It has been quite the month! Several things have happened and several more are in-progress. Here are some links to what's new :)
Through Each Year - New music on iTunes and Spotify! Lully - Obligatory Baby Yoda video. Clerks 2 Promo - An unsolicited attempt to soundtrack a scene. Househop - New music from a different album to be released in June. As for that which is less-new, since these have been mentioned before and updates remain minimal: Branching Chaos - Currently in a quantum state of being both "done" and "not done". One very nice rejection was received near the beginning of the month and I remain optimistic about Anna's Adventures in Simulation Land seeing a release sometime this year. Short Story Collection - The long-postponed short story collection is anticipated for a May release. Notably, the collection now has a title. It has previously eyed April, March, and March 2019 release dates, but still has room for polish. Oh, plus the homepage is updated to be (somewhat) more visually-pleasing (the scattered text is as intentional as ever) and now has uniform, functioning links for the novellas that will comprise Branching Chaos. |
